I'll forgo the litany of reasons PBNJ has been on hiatus, and just jump back to business as usual.
Katelyn turned 9. NINE. That means this blog has been alive (comatose counts!) for nine years!
She's been reading lot of Nancy Drew lately, so that's the theme we went with.
As the guests arrived, they snacked on lemon bars (Katelyn INSISTED on this detail!) and then learned that before the party, a thief snuck in and made off with the party favors! He left a ransom note and clues all over house, which the girls had to find and assemble. For extra fun, they interviewed witnesses (my patient parents and in-laws) and took finger prints. After some wrong-turns and gentle prodding, they finally solved the case and the favors were returned unharmed.
The cake!
The girls searching for clues.
Interrogating witnesses.
Eating cake after the criminal was apprehended.
After cake, Katelyn opened presents. Thinking putty and "cutie eyes" were big items.
This party was a TON of work for me but it was so fun for the girls and it was fun to watch them work together and have such excitement for the game. It's a really good thing birthday parties are only once a year. (I know, I know. 4 times a year for us.)
