A little roughage never hurt anyone.
Digestable roughage is one thing...sand is not one of those things...if you know what I mean.
Perhaps you are feeding her too many whole grains and she (like a chicken) needs some grit for her gizzard! Besides its guaranteed to clean your teeth.
